The range of online study courses and E-Learning options on offer reflect the industry's needs and requirement for innovation.

Online Master in Logistics Management

The course Online Master in Logistics Management focuses on the subject of logistics. This is a new study program for those already in the industry and can largely be completed through home study or from the workplace in supervised online courses. The course content makes use of multimedia and is structured in modules. The E-Learning elements and phases of the course are accompanied by and combined with support and communication activities such as teletutoring, exchange possibilities for students and in-class lectures.
The new Master in Logistics Management course is being launched at the University of Stuttgart in the winter semester of 2007/2008. Alongside the main logistics part of the course, graduates of a business-oriented degree program can develop their basic technical knowledge whereas engineers can develop their business-related expertise. The Online Master in Logistics Management is designed as a "blended learning" course i.e. conventional teaching methods using in-class lectures are combined with technology-based communication and teaching methods. The ratio of online study to in-class lectures is approximately 80/20.
In order to enroll in the study program with final Master examination, a student must have obtained a degree relevant to the profession from a University or University of Applied Sciences in the field of economics or engineering. In addition, prospective students must have two years of professional experience upon enrollment.

Master of Science in Production and Operations Management

The HECTOR School of Engineering & Management at the University of Karlsruhe (TH) offers an interesting academic further education option in the form of its Master of Science in Production and Operations Management.
This demanding qualification program for those already working in the industry is aimed at university graduates with at least three years of professional experience who are aiming to obtain a management position in the field of operational management (e.g. in the field of production, logistics, plant engineering).
In particular, the course covers topics such as plant planning and control, supply chain management, project management and HR planning. In addition, subjects such as analytical thinking, problem solving and communication skills are trained and furthered. The specialist teaching is supplemented by MBA components such as "Human Resource Management", "International Project Management" and "Law and Contracts".
The lecturers are from the University of Karlsruhe and private enterprise.

Logistics Management and Leadership (MBA)

The Graduate School Rehin-Neckar offers an interesting academic further education option in the form of its Logistics Management and Leadership (MBA).
This demanding qualification program for those already working in the industry is aimed at university graduates with at least two years of professional experience who are aiming to obtain a management position in the field of logisitcs management.
In particular, the course covers topics such as Management Accounting and Controlling, Investment Planning & Finance, Basic Economics & Logistics Environment, Strategic Decisions & Business Modeling, Supply Chain Decision Making, Contract Law & Logistics Law, Leadership & Human Resources Management, Intralogistics & Efficient Warehouse Processes, Third Party Logistics & Procurement and Transport Management.

E-Learning options at institutes

The Institute of Mechanical Handling and Logistics (IFT) and the Institute of Work Sciences and Technology Management (IAT) have a lot of experience in the field of E-Learning due to their many years of project and research work. The IFT, for example, was awarded 4th prize in the Self-Study Online Award of the University of Stuttgart in 2005.
