Air freight has been a profitable growth market for the logistics industry for many years and experts forecast that air freight volumes will continue to rise in the future. Simple air freight solutions, which represent the main sector of the market today, will in future make way for integrated solutions as required by complex logistics systems.

Stuttgart international airport
The most central and most important airport of the state is Stuttgart international airport. Its catchment area includes the majority of Baden-Württemberg. All types of wide-body airplane can take off and land in Stuttgart, including for long haul flights.
Large volumes of freight are handled at Stuttgart Airport due to the destinations it services, its size and the freight infrastructure in place (terminal).
Friedrichshafen and Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden regional airports
The regional airports of Friedrichshafen and Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden are now ranked among the largest German regional airports due to continuously increasing passenger numbers in recent years.
Black Forest Airport in Lahr
The Black Forest Airport in Lahr has a passenger license for visitors to the Europapark theme park in Rust and the status of a special freight airport.
Commercial airfields
A further 18 commercial airfields in the state serve the requirements of regional businesses and manufacturing plants.
