Danube-Iller region (II)

The Danube-Iller/Ulm region incorporates territory in two states, is the logistics center at the heart of southern Germany and serves as a hub between Stuttgart and Munich.

With its location on the A7 and A8 motorways and on the rail arterial routes of Netherlands-Southern Europe and Paris-Budapest, the region is an optimal logistics hub. In view of the imminent development of the connections between Stuttgart and Ulm, the attractiveness of the region to the transport logistics sector will continue to increase. The region is also directly connected to the North Sea ports via the rapidly growing combined transport terminal in Ulm. Attractive areas for logistics operations are available around the combined transport terminal.

In addition to a first-class university network, the region also has a number of research institutes operated by private enterprise (Daimler Research Center etc.), which also stimulate growth.

The Danube-Iller region incorporates territory of both Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria based on an agreement between the State of Baden-Württemberg and the Free State of Bavaria with respect to cooperation in the areas of development and regional planning in the Danube-Iller region.
