Benefits for the end consumer
Logistical achievements benefit all end consumers
The fact is, well-functioning logistical services often go unnoticed by us or we take them for granted.
This "logistics diary of a family" shows how the logistics sector works around the clock on our behalf and how the needs of a family are closely intertwined with the logistics sector!
Maybe these events took place just as described somewhere in a small town in Baden-Württemberg...
Logistics diary of a family
6:30 a.m. to 6:45 a.m.
Nightmare!
I had a terrible dream last night. It was all about how our newspaper publisher didn't receive its supplies of newsprint paper. I can't imagine starting a new day without my newspaper. I'm glad it was all just a dream. These supplies reached the publisher and the newspaper was delivered to our letter box as normal.
6:45 a.m. to 7:15 a.m.
We've got hot water again!
The water is hot again. Yesterday, our oil tank was filled at midday within three hours of placing the order. That was lucky!
I really have to make a habit of checking the oil level every few months.
7:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m.
Fresh bread rolls with broken eggs!
Our son is really offended. He is still suffering from a cold. The path from the gate to the front door proved to be his undoing this morning. So for breakfast we are having the bread rolls that were delivered with fresh eggs that are not quite as they should be!
8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Our daughter's school trip!
Our daughter will be making full use of her Scoolcard today. Her class will be using the tram today to travel to the Black Forest for a relaxing morning.
The school bus left without our son. Now he is really ill. Our family doctor issued a prescription for his medicine via remote diagnosis.
1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Multicultural lunch!
Our family really is different. Our son wants Italian spaghetti. Our daughters are dreaming of Spanish paella.
And we will be eating freshly caught fish from the North Sea. That's what I call multicultural!
2:30 p.m.
Our holiday trip has been rescued!
The replacement part for our car was delivered earlier. The call from the workshop was a relief. How do they manage it in just a few hours? Well, however they do it, we can set off on holiday!
3:45 p.m.
Our son is getting better!
The medicine has also arrived at the pharmacy and they are dropping it off for us. The mere announcement that it is on the way seems to be making our son feel better. It can't have been that bad after all!
5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Get your bags packed!
We are all ready for our island holiday. Our teamwork in packing our suitcases worked like a treat. We are all excited!
8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Time to relax!
All I have to do now is read my e-mails, watch a film and check out the latest weather situation at our holiday resort on the Internet.
After such an exciting day, we really were surprised by the number of different people who were involved in meeting our needs. I think that's what is called logistics!
