View of a high-bay storage facility

Production logistics refers to the materials and inventory management systems, the management of semi-finished goods within in-process storage facilities and, increasingly, the tasks associated with manufacturing.

Distribution logistics

Distribution logistics, also known as sales or marketing logistics, incorporates the tasks and activities between the distribution warehouse and customer (= Outbound).

Replacement part logistics

The purpose of replacement part logistics is to ensure that products which have been sold can be kept operational by means of replacement or service products.

Waste disposal logistics

Waste disposal logistics, also known as reverse logistics, is concerned with taking back waste products and empty containers and with recycling.

The new term of intralogistics has been in use since 2003. This generally means that all of the logistical processes at a particular site are combined and, depending on the operation, consist of a combination of production logistics, storage logistics and packaging logistics.
