Baden-Württemberg – A specialist in intralogistics
Organization, implementation and optimization of in-house material flows
lntralogistics comprises the organization, implementation and optimization of in-house material flows within industrial and commercial companies.
Intralogistics suppliers include companies from the traditional mechanical engineering and electrical engineering sectors, as well as IT specialists, system integrators, planners and consultants. Their services range from tried and tested, innovative technical components to reliable equipment and machinery for conveying and storage and customer-specific, efficient all-in-one solutions from one supplier.
The German intralogistics sector is very successful internationally. Germany accounts for roughly half of Europe's intralogistics turnover and also has a clear lead internationally ahead of Japan and the USA, as documented by data from the VDMA. Baden-Württemberg has at least 800 intralogistics companies. These are predominantly small to medium-sized and in some cases family owned. They contribute roughly 6% of the turnover of the manufacturing industry.
Baden-Württemberg has the highest density of intralogistics companies in Germany and is home to a number of world market leaders. Their innovative leadership is based on more than 200 years of tradition in materials handling technology in Baden-Württemberg as well as the close and productive cooperation with the research institutes of the state.
Intralogistics is a growth industry in Baden-Württemberg - both export-oriented and absolutely essential for all of the other areas of the economy that are involved in production and trading.
With the LogiMAT trade fair held in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg plays host to one of the leading trade fairs for the distribution, materials and information flow sector. Another important trade fair is MOTEK, the world's leading trade fair for assembly and handling technology. MOTEK is a meeting point for all companies involved in automation technology and is thus also an important event for intralogistics suppliers.
The Intralogistik-Netzwerk Baden-Württemberg (Intralogistics Network of Baden-Württemberg) brings together all of the activities of the logistics sector, which is a very important sector in the state, and is very well networked.
