Logistics-Image-Campaign (LIK) project group

Initiative aims for better understanding of the logistical value creation chain

On 14 April 2008, the charter of the Logistics-Image-Campaign Baden-Württemberg (LIK) was signed by representatives of associations and institutions from the fields of transport, logistics and industry as part of the first logistics conference of Baden-Württemberg.

The former Ministry of Economics of Baden-Württemberg prompted this initiative in order to create a better understanding of the logistical value chain in society and politics. Along with the information and communications sectors, logistics is the most important integrating function of a modern economic system. It is thus a fundamental basic requirement for the operation of our modern economy based on the division of labor, as well as for the variety of goods available to us.

The general public seldom associates logistics with jobs and economic prosperity, instead focusing on the negative aspects such as noise, traffic jams, use of land and low business tax income. This negative image influences young people when choosing their careers and, for example, local authority decision making when it comes to distributing land on industrial estates.

The supporters of the initiative wish to significantly improve the image of the logistics sector through targeted public relations work and communication/information events which emphasize the complexity of logistical services and the vital contribution they make to innovation, growth and employment. The initiative also aims to create a network between the economy, academia and research. It is always open to new members.
