In comparison with the average for other regions in the state, the Southern Upper Rhine region is home to five times as many international freight forwarding and transport companies. The range of services on offer is supplemented by small and medium-sized local logistics companies with various areas of specialization.

The EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, which services international destinations, the Black-Forest-Airport in Lahr, which has the status of a special freight airport, and the new Department of Logistics at the University of Offenburg/Gengenbach are other highlights of the logistics profile of this region.
